BEVERLY YOUNGMAN
HEALTH CLINIC
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
Beverly Youngm an, Tribal Member, recently
began working as the Adm inistrative Officer
for the Siletz Community Health Clinic which
is scheduled to open soon.
As A d m in istra tive O ffice r fo r the
C lin ic, B e ve rly's re s p o n s ib ilitie s in clud e
pro cure m ent o f eq uipm en t and supplies,
program planning, fina ncial m anagem ent,
public relations and once the Clinic opens day
to day operations.
B eve rly b e lie ve s th a t the H ealth
C linic i s a g re a t a é h ie v e m ë n tof the Tribal
C ouncil and staff, rep rese nting a solid
commitment to enhancing the health and well
being of our Tribal Members.
A recent graduate of Oregon State
University, Bev is a m em ber o f the Tribal
Education Com m ittee, Am erican Indians in
Science and Engineering Society, and the
Siletz Nation drum group.
She is happy about being able to
return home and w ork in a capacity which
provides services to Indian people. Bev
enjoys reading, w alking an d' fishing-"w ith
limited success"!
DORENE jay
CONTRACT HEALTH CLERK
T riba l M em ber D orene Jay was
hired as the C o ntract Health C lerk on
O ctober 1, 1990.
Dorene, her husband D.J., and their
two childre n, Robbie and Karli, live in
Toledo. H er husband, D.J., jfishes off the
Alaskan coast.
She has been a homemaker the past
several years but previously has * worked
for the Lincoln County School District as a
Data Processor.
Dorene says she enjoys the friendly
atmosphere that she has become part of in
Contract Health.
Siletz Tribal Head Start began it's
seventh yea r o f classroom services on
O cto b e r 3, 1990. The twenty 3 & 4 year
olds attend class five days per week, 9:30-
1:00 at a classroom located in Siletz School.
M andy Sorensen, the new Teacher/Fam ily
Services Provider, is a recent graduate of
Oregon State University with a degree and
c e rtific a tio n in E le m e n ta ry E du catio n.
Mandy is very energetic and brings a wealth
Of creative new ideas and methods to the
classroom . Lei Lani Rilatos returns fo r a
second ye a r as A ssista n t T each er/B us
Driver. W ith Lani's Head Start experience
and M andy's Education background and
experience, we can look forw ard to an
exciting school year.
The Department of Health and Human
S ervices, Head S tart B ureau, Am erican
Indian Program Branch has awarded the
Siletz Tribe expansion funds fo r Head Start
services in the S p rin g fie ld C om m unity.
N egotiations for classroom space iri the
Springfield School District are in progress.
Recruitment to e n ro ll twenty 3-4 year olds
is scheduled to begin soon.
