The following documentation will constitute a completed application for renewal/
continuation of a grant*:

Tribal Higher Education Grant Application;
A copy of the official college needs analysis processed through the
College Scholarship Service or other appropriate forms used to compute
financial need and any other necessary documentation from the appropriate
financial aids officer indicating total budget, identified resources and
amount of unmet need;
Higher education transcripts [for applicants who have interrupted their
schooling and now wish to return) or the previous term’s grade report
(for students continuing an uninterrupted program);
A letter from the applicant explaining her/his goals.
Application Due Dates:
The due date for completed applications (see ”D” above) for fall term or first
semester 1981 shall be four weeks before the start of the teim. The due date
for applying for assistance for other terms or semesters shall be four weeks
prior to the beginning of that term/semester. Applications received by those
due dates shall be processed prior to any applications received after those due
dates. Applications received after due dates shall be processed subject to
availability of funds.

Application Review:
Application for scholarships under this program shall be reviewed, rated and
funds awarded by a Higher Education Scholarship Staff consisting of the three
Tribal Area Office Supervisors and Programs Director.
G.
Application Review Procedures:
The Higher Education Scholarship Staff shall review each Completed application.
Scholarship amounts shall be awarded on the basis of financial need. Grants
will be approved for specific amounts. Award letters and checks for those
amounts shall be forwarded to the appropriate institution’s Financial Aids
Officer.
Applications which do not document that the applicant has applied for other
sources of financial aid prior to deadlines established for those sources,
will not be considered until after applications which include such
documentation have been processed.
H.
Funding Priorities:
The first priority for funding shall be full-time undergraduate students
pursuing a degree at an accredited institute of higher education. Other
eligible applicants shall be considered if funds are available.
Priority shall be given to students attending state supported schools.
Applications from students electing to attend private colleges and out-of-
state institutions will be evaluated on the basis of the anticipated
financial support derived from such institutions.
