The Siletz Tribe’s annual election is set for Saturday, February 7, 1981. Three
if ^ ’Tribal Council positions will be voted on, and a ballot measure authorizing an
hourly payment for Tribal Council members will also be on the ballot.

Any Siletz Tribal member who is enrolled and will be at least eighteen (18) years
°ld on February 7, 1981, may vote in this election.

The election will be held at Siletz, Oregon, at the BIA Agency Office.

-ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Absentee ballots may be used by Tribal members who can not come to Siletz on
February 7. To get your absentee ballot, fill out and send in the attached
Application Form to: ’’Élection Board, Siletz Tribe, P. 0. Box 549, Siletz,
Oregon 97380.” Your absentee ballot and instructions will be mailed to you.
To be counted, your ballot must be received by 4:00 p.m. on February 7, 1981.
Mail or bring your application form to the Election Board Tribal Central Office
right away if you want to vote by absentee ballot. Application forms can also be
picked up at any of the Area Office through February 6 - but remember, it will
take time to send it in and get your ballot mailed back. Get your application
form in right away! Don’t lose your vote!

Voting
Compensation of Tribal Council Members
"Subject to the availablility of funds, Tribal Council members shall receive payment
of $5.00 per hour for time spent working on official Tribal Council duties. Official
Tribal Council duties includes attendance at tribal meetings, serving as tribal
delegates to state, regional and national Indian organizations, and other work
specifically authorized by vote of the Tribal Council."
"The Tribal Council must adopt and publish an ordinance and budget which regulates
these payments. Accurate and complete records shall be kept and made available to
the General Council on a regular basis."
