JUST THINKING
If you noticed the little item
at the bottom o f page one of
this issue, you w ill have»
discovered that we have no
coverage of the city council
meeting u n til next week The
notice o f course, is rather
c r y p t i c . “ D u e to t h e
holiday ..” doesn’t really say
much But it means a lot
There was no one to cover
the m eeting last night We
were all dow n here slaving
away because most o f our
news wasn't received u ntil
Tuesday afternoon This was
in part due to the three-day
weekend; but the icy roads
played the ir part, also M ail
was la te f r o m
P o r tla n d
because o f p o o r ro a d
conditions and folks w e re
straggling in last night as late
as 9 p m w ith items that had
to go in, they said W ell, we
try to please.
So next week we w ill have
the council story Hope this

Speaking of icy roads—d id

If you get a chance, be sure
to read the commissioners
report; especially the p a rt
about sheep killin g Seems it
c o n ta in s s o m e v a lu a b le
in form ation that many o f us
d id n ’t realize Such as the fact
that the clerk's o ffice must be
n otifie d in person or by mail
less than ten days after the
discovery o f loss of

includes dogs ro a m in g at
large I gathered from the
report that the form is actually
an affidavit and m ust be
notarized Norm Davis tells
me he left some forms at the
local police station for anyone
w ho has lost livestock, fowls,
etc. to predators — bu, even
though a form is fille d out
here, it must evidently be
notarized then m ailed back to

You can learn a lot by
reading those commissioners
reports They keep you up to
date on what's happening on
the o th e r side o f the hill. I
fou n d one little nugget that I
d id n 't k n o w . A ll th e
