five year reunion on August 15, 1981
at 1 pm in Airport Park, Vernonia,
Oregon. All graduates and their

VHS grads plan annual picnic
The annual picnic of the Vernonia
Society and VHS “Old Grads" will be
held at Anderson Park, Vernonia,
Oregon, August 16,1981.
Please come and bring your friends.
All former Vernonia people and
families are invited.
Bring your own picnic lunch. Coffee
and cups
will be
provided.
Registration starts at 10 am.
In case of rain, the event will be
held in the Washington Grade School
cafeteria.

Ralph Robert Roediger
Graveside services for Ralph
Robert Roediger, 53, of Hillsboro,
Oregon were held Tuesday, August 4,
1981 at 10:30 am at Fir Lawn
Cemetery with the Pastor James
Airey of United Methodist Church of
Hillsboro officiating.
Ralph Roediger died August 1,
1981 at Tuality Community Hospital.
Ralph was born August 18, 1927 at
Vernonia, the child of Edmund and
Marie Kraus Roediger, and had lived
in Hillsboro all his life.
Ralph was married to Corannie
(Salley) Caspar at Vernonia, Oregon
on March 20,1919.
Ralph Roediger grew up in
Vernonia and attended Vernonia and
Hillsboro High Schools. He also
attended the University of Oregon,
spent one year in the Navy, and then,
at 32 years of age went to work for
the post office and continued there for
17 years, when he was forced to retire
because of poor health. He was also a
member of the United Methodist
Church.
Ralph Roediger is survived by his
wife, Coranne (Sally) Roediger of
Hillsboro; a son, Mike Roediger of
Hillsboro; two daughters, Delsey
Howard of Aloha and Kim Fleming of
Spokane, Washington; one grandson;
his mother, Marie Kraus of Gilroy,
California; his brothers, John
Roediger of San Jose, California; Ed
Roediger of Vernonia, Oregon; Fred
Roediger of St. Helens, Oregon; his
sister, Ruth Ozias of Gilroy,
California and several nieces and
nephews.
