OBITUARIES
Verner May Blount
Nemer May Blount, 81, a longtime
resident of Vernonia and late of
Forest Grove, died Wednesday, July
15 at a Portland area hospital
following an extended illness.
Services for Mrs. Blount were held
Saturday, July 18 at 10 am at Fuiten
Mortuary Chapel in Vernonia.
Committal services were held at the
Vernonia
North
Cemetery
in
Vernonia.
Mrs. Blount was bom February 7,
1900 in Marshaville, Lousianna, the
daughter of the late Christoper and
Nancy Irene Haskins Holbrook. She
was raised and received her education
in Carson, Lousianna.
She was united in marriage to
Forest A. Blount on June 2, 1917 in
De Ridder, Lousianna. In the early
years of their marriage they moved
back and forth between Oregon and
Louisianna, as Mr. Blount worked in
the timber industry, finally settling in
Vernonia in 1942. Mr. Blount
proceeded her in death in Vernonia
August 9,1960.
Mrs. Blount lived at the family
home in Vernonia until three years
ago when she moved to a Forest
Grove seniors home.
She was a member of Pythian
Sisters Del Phi Lodge No. 13 Forest
Grove and a member of the Senior
Citizens Group of Vernonia.
Survivors include three sons;
Albert of Tillamook; Lester, Mollala
and Donald Blount, Crescent City,
California; three daughters, Mrs.
Kenneth
(Odine)
Anderson,
Beaverton; Mrs. Edward (Marie)
Ladsem, Portland and Mrs. Calvin
(Betty) Roach, Manning, Oregon.
Also surviving is a sister, Audrey
Hall, Lousianna, twenty seven
grandchildren and forty nine great­
grandchildren.
