Public opinion sought on revised Trojan emergency plan
Public comments on a revised Trojan
Nuclear plant emergency response plan
will be solicited by the Oregon
Department of Energy (ODOE) at a
hearing in Rainier on January 12, 1981.
The hearing will be conducted at the
Rainier School Auditorium at 7:30 pm.
Copies of the plan are available for
public inspection at the offices of the
Columbia
County
Clerk,
county
courthouse, St. Helens, and the City
Recorder, city hall, Rainier. The plan may
also be inspected at ODOE offices, 102
Labor and Industries Building, in Salem.
The plan, which is a designed response
to an accident at the Trojan plant, has
been revised to comply with new state
and
federal
requirements.
Representatives for the State of Oregon,
Columbia County, Portland General
Electric,
the
Federal
Emergency
Management Agency and the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission will be available
at the meeting to answer questions.
The proposed rule provides as follows:
November, 1980 which is incorporated
into
the
“Oregon
Emergency
Operations Plan” as Annex L.”
Public comments may be offered in
person or in writing at the meeting.
Written comments will be received by
ODOE through January 16 and should be
addressed to: Don Godard, Supervisor,

THE Trojan Nuclear Power Plant shall
be in accordance with the “Trojan
Radiological Emergency
Response
Plan” Chapters 1 and 3 dated

A similar hearing in Cowlitz County,
Washington, will be conducted later in
January by Cowlitz County and the
Washington
State
Department

Emergency Services.

Terri Merriman of Vernonia, Oregon
has registered to begin classes at
Northwestern College of Business in
Portland, Oregon, where she plans to
prepare for a career in the Travel and
Airline industry.
Terri is the daughter of Barry and
Nancy Merriman and is a graduate of St.
Paul Central High School in St. Paul,
Minnesota.

FUEL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
BEGINS
Community Action Team, Inc. - of
Columbia County
announces that
appointments are now being scheduled for
the Low Income Fuel Assistance Program
for Columbia County residents. Both
homeowners and renters may be eligible
for a one-time payment. Eligibility for fuel
assistance will depend on household
income. Assistance will vary depending
on what type of fuel is used and what the
total household income is. This year
certain medical and dental costs such as
paid prescription drug costs, eyeglasses,
etc., will be allowable deductions from
gross income to determine eligibility.
Reimbursements may also be made to
those eligible people who have already
paid their heating bill. Documented proof
of all household income as well as copies
of paid medical/dental costs must be
provided at time of application. A copy of
the heating bill is also required at time of
application.
