Adventist hear of stewardship
Adventist in Vernonia heard the last in
a series of sermons on stewardship,
Sabbath, Feb. 16. Elder Joe Hansen, head
of the Stewardship Department for the
North Pacific Union of Seventh-day
Adventists explained the wise use of
money. “God is the true owner of all we
possess,” he said, “and we are His
managers.” When this relationship is
accepted, he said, our prospertiy is more
sure and lasting.
This coming Sabbath, March 23, the
speaker will be John Appel, Associate
Director of the Youth Department of the
Oregon Conference of Seventh-day
Adventists. The community is cordially
invited to attend.

(CAEL). CAEL is a national association of
collegiat institutions and colleagues
dedicated to fostering quality experiential
learning and the valid, relaible assessment
of its outcome. Presently there are more
than 350 institutions and individual
members in the United States and Canada
and Puerto Rico. Approximately forty of
these institutions are in the Northwest.

Experiential education
A national toll-free phone line that
provides information on educational
opportunities geared to the needs of adults
entering or returning £o college is now
available. Callers will receive information
on the more than 300 colleges and
universities that assess learning gained
through life or work experiences.
Knowledge and skills acquired on a job,
through homemaking, volunteer work,
workshops, seminars and training may be
college level and an ever-growing number
of institutions assess and award credit for
that learning.
In Oregon there tire four public and three
private schools that offer credit for prior
experiential learning. They are: Clackamas
Com m u n ity College, Colegio Cesar Chavez,
Eastern Oregon State College, Lane
Community College, Linfield College,
M arylhurst Education Center, and
Southern Oregon State College. Eight
other schools are considering or developing
- such programs.
