Loggers roll to tie for league title
Home court appeared master again as
visiting Vernonia fell to Lutheran 57-55.
Better play on the part of the Loggers
would have overcome any questionable
calls made (or not made). The Bluejays
outscored the Loggers from the field 46 to
40, cashed in on 17 out of 35 free throw
attempts to gain a narrow victory.
Vernonia appeared tight throughout the
contest with the exception of Chris Cota’s
14 point effort in about the same amount
of playing time before fouling out.
Additionally, the loggers missed an
opportunity to maintain the league
leadership by / converting 9 of 16 free
throws.

As for the game Friday, the Loggers
really showed the town their stuff. They
played tough defense and great offense.
Portland Christian Royals and their 2
buses of spectators that came to watch
the game, went home with a defeat.
During the game, there was only one
person who fouled out and that was 6’
9‘A” Noel Brown from Portland Christian.
Loggers and Royals stormed the floor
trying to keep each other from scoring.
During the last quarter. There were times
when the Loggers were tied, but after the
last tie-up Vernonia pulled ahead and left
Portland Christian standing still. Chris
Cota’s high score of 27 points was the top
for both teams, while the next Closest was
Brien Weigand with 15.:
