Vernonia Mat men after a good season
winning s meets and losing 6 overall and
many individual championships met a
disappointing and unexpected end for
most at district tournament.
18 Logger wrestlers competed in 10
weight classes. Of those 18, 10 won their
first match and qualified for the
semifinals in 9 classes. But when it came
down to those semifinal matches
Vernonia took an unexpected beating
losing all but one/Greg Parker in the 130
lb. class was able to go all the way and
win district championship and will
represent Vernonia at State.
Although most of our grapplers lost in
the semi-finals there were some
tremendous efforts made by individuals
and the prospects for next years matmen
look good. Four third places were won in
the consulation matches by, Howard
Eskins, 98 lb.; Dave Wood 106 lb.; Tim
McLeod 157 lb. and Drew Tracy at 168 lb.
