P a s to r s C o rn e r The inspired record of the Word of God begins, “ In the beginning G o d I t begins with an absolute fact and then goes on in the next 66 books to prove what a tremendous fact the reality of God is . But it does more than this. As the Old Testament prophecies of the past merge into their fulflUment in the New Testament, a picture of God Is revealed, a por trait so im m ense, so powerful, so lovely that the soul of man can scarcely take it in. There Is the presence of the supernatural. God again and again has Intervened In man's spiritual and social development to show Himself alive and concerned about his world. The universe with"its design and purpose, with its intricacy and detail, Its vast ness and complexity proves that there is a great Designer Who can be none other than God Himself, Man with his desire for God (and every man does desire Him), with his picture and idea of perfection, with his creativity, and conscience, with his moral inward law, his conscience and his assurance of final judgement proves again the truth and reality of our one God, our Lork. But these only point the direction. There is another, a greater, a special revela tion of God's reality and love. It is in the person of Jesus Christ. We may skip m errily on our way and ignore the abundant proff around us of our God and His care. But the cross will suddenly arrest us. No man can run from the c ro ss. It stands on the horizon of every soul. It is our moment of truth. Paul the Apostle came to the place that he could "glory In the cro ss." For it had done what nothing else could do. It had shown him divine love; it had calmed his spirit and It had given him joy, contentment and peace of mind.
