The Spartan team ran against a field of 142 runners from double A and t r i ple A schools throughout northwest O re gon. Sheridan's Steve Paterson ran the tough 2.7 mile course in 15:03 to place 3oth. Spartan teammate Mike Rentz finished 61st. Steven Disraeli Aaron died Monday, October 8 in the Doembecher Hospital, Portland, Oregon® Funeral services were held at Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home October 11, 1973 at 2^)0 p.m. with interment in Greencrest Memorial Park, Sheridan, Oregon. Steven (Tater) , the five year old son of Steve and Marian Schoppert Aaron was bom in McMinnviUe March 30,1968. He had been in poor health since his birth. He is survived by his parents Steve and Marian Aaron of Sheridan; his grand parents Ted and Jane Aaron of Sheridan; other more distant relatives and friends, a great grandfather Leslie Foley, Jam es town, Ky.; other more distant relatives and friends. The Willamina girls' volleyball teams came on strong to beat the Banks team s, here Friday evening, to the first game the varsity won by a score of 15 to 3. to the second game of the varsity Banks was a little stronger, the score being 15 to 4, Willamina, to a d e a n sweeps Debbie Thayer made nine of these 15 points for high scorer. The J.V .'s wanted to play ball a little longer, more practice I guess, for they just handed Banks the first game, 17-15, Kim Naslund scored 10 points in the se cond game to help post a 15-4 victory tor Willamina. After a brief rest, Kim came right back with 11 points in the third game. Willamina won 15 to 4 again. All the girls played real weU. They are after the wins when they play this way. The freshmen came from behind in their game to win 16 to 14 in the first, for Willamina. They were just as determined in the second and they were in the first, to win by a score of 15 to 10. This was a total of six wins and one loss. On to the league championshipl Willamina's eighth grade football team remained unbeaten .ac mey defeated Am ity 42-0 last Thursday in a game play ed at Amity. The Wolverines completely dominated Ladies1 Volleyball play, as fullback Bart Bryant ran for touchdowns of 62, 26 and 20 yards. GERRY'S A N TIQ U ES The Sheridan G irl's Varsity volleyball team remained undefeated in league play with 15-10 and 15-6 victories over N es- tucca last Thursday at Cloverdale. Casey Whalon lead Spartan scoring with 10 points, followed by Rae Stutzman’s 6 m arkers. Tana Potter had five points. The girls' " B " team lost two out of three matches with scores of 17-15, 2-15 and U-15. The "C " team won both matches 15-3 and 15-13. JV‘ Willamina'^ junior varsity scored with 5:14 remaining in a hard fought contest to defeat Dayton's junior varsity 16-8, ' Monday evening October 8 at Willamina. Both teams struggled through three and one half quarters to an 8-8 deadlock. Late in the 4th quarter with the junior 'Dogs in possession, quarterback Jeff Smith hit tight end Tim Bainter crossing behind Dayton's secondary. Bainter eluded would-be tacklers and galloped down the right sideline for the deciding tally. The pass-run play covered 81 yards. Fullback Roger Rivers ran around right end for the two point conversion. Willamina's first score came early in the second quarter, as fuUback Rivers hit paydirt on a run from 2 yards out. Rivers ran for the two point conversion. Dayton scored early in the last quarter, as halfback Santos Mota fought his way into the end - zone on a 10 yard run.
