Duane Rich scores Willamina’s second touchdown with seven minutes and 38
seconds to go in the fourth period of Friday night’s game.
The Banks Braves left Willamina Thurs
day night with the scallps of the Bull
dogs, to remain undefeated for the season.
The loss for Willamina was their second
in league action.
This game was a game of breaks and
some poor judgement which all went in
the favor of the Banks team. What looked
like was going to be a highlight of the
game, turned into a break for Banks.
Duane Rich of the Bulldogs took the o -
pening kickoff on his own 35 yard line
and ran the sideline to almost a touch
down.
The referee ruled he stepped
out of bounds on the Banks 30 yard line.
After picking up a few yards, Willamina
had a fourth down and six to go when they
fombled and Banks recovered. With only
nine seconds left in the first period, Banks
took a Bulldog punt and ran it 65 yards
for the first touchdown of the game.
The kick for the extra point was no good.
After playing most of the second period
scoreless, Miss Fortune came along again,
o r another break. The Bulldogs fumbled
a Banks punt on th eir own five yard
line and Banks recovered. In three plays
they scored. The kick for point after
was good. The score was now 13 to 0,
Banks. The score at the end of the first
half was Banks 20 and Willamina O.
After holding the Braves on the first
few plays of the second half, the Bull
dogs came right back to score, and con
vert the extra 2 points. The touchdown
was a 46 yard run by Duane Rich. The
conversion was a pass from Johnson to
Rich. Each team scored once in each
of the last two periods.
Duane Rich was the leading rusher for
the game with 111 yards for 15 c a rrie s;
’’Cam” Crop of Banks was next with 100
yards on 23 c a rrie s.
Willamina led the passing with 28 yards
in 14 attempts.

The Bobcats attempted a run on the
convesion try but were stopped short
of the goal line.
The last score came early in the last
period, as fullback Keith Redberg hit off
right guard from 1 yard out.* A pass
attempt for two points failed.
As the final gun sounded the end, Nes
tucca’s victory bell could be heard thru-
out Cloverdale and all that the Spartans
had to look forward to were nice hot

The Nestucca Bobcats contained Sheri

’Thursday evening at Cloverdale and coas

turf.
The Spartans were unable to move the
ball for any noticeable yardage until late
in the contest when Bobcat coach Craig
Rothenberger began substituting freely.
During this la tte r stage Sheridan pene
trated to Nestucca’s 30 yard line, but
lost possession of the slippery ball on
the following play via a fumble.
