A hearing will be held Monday, October 8, at 10 a.m. at Willa mina city hall to hear an application filed by the Southern Pacific Transportation Company to the P.U.C. requesting that its Willa mina agency be abandoned and its agent withdrawn Night games to be continued this year Due to the power shortage and Dale Parnell’s directive for schools to save on electricity whenever possible, the principals and ath letic directors of the Yawama League schools met to decide on the fate of Friday night football games. They agreed to hold the varsity games on Friday nights because gate receipts are needed to keep the athletic programs going. None of the schools have enough money budgeted for athletics, but perhaps this could be changed in future years. They left it up with the individual schools involved to attempt to r e schedule freshmen games to daytime whenever possible. Breaking ground Saturday morning for the Tina Miller Memorial Children’s Park were ^cPUiicilman Lgo Ggdsg^^and the Willamina Police Reserve. The" will of Tina Miller stipulated creation of such a park, and called for the erection of a plaque in her memory. Hale said that the plaque will be in place as soon as a suitable design is settled on. The memorial park includes slides, swings and a climbing apparatus. Kids register for 1973-74 school year Sheridan high school principal Rich Correa said they were conserving electricity in the school. Lights in the hallways, student lounge and lobby have been cut in half. On particularly bright days all hallway lights have been turned off. School enrollment figures in Sheridan show a slight drop from the same time last year.
