The total national goal is $125,000,000 and goes to sup port 17 different agencies for war relief work including our own USO. In fact, the USO gets almost one half of the entire amount that is to be raised and goes directly for the help and welfare of American soldiers in service. Yamhill county’s quota of the national fund is $19,142.00 and to that has been added the wel fare agencies of Oregon, work ing especially for children, the amount of $2.721.00 and $3600 for Boy Scout work making a grand total of slightly less than 21.900,00 for the county. The mayors of the various towns constitute a committee for the raising of these funds and they have allocated the amounts out to various towns as they l>e- lieve is equitable. While the campaign runs from October 18th to November 18th., the campaign will not officially start in the Willamina commun ity until Monday, October 25th. Chairman A. L. Newby has ap- ],ointed a large committee which will endeavor to make the cam paign successful but the mayor calls attention to the fact that this campaign is one that the people themselves must largely carry out without dependence on others to help them. Posters and folders are being prepared and will be circulated in and around the city and do nors are asked to make contri butions early and thus facilitate the whole effort.
