NEW EFFEC TIV E HAY FEV ER R E L IE F Hay fever, which annually causes m ore sneezes, m ore in flamed noses and m ore red, stream ing eyes than any other scourge, m ay have its final big fling this Septem ber, all because a Pennsylvania electrical engineer w as served a dish of corn m eal m ush which was entirely too salty. The engineer, sneezing, and with all other hay fever m an i festations, stopped a t a hotel w here he was served a dish of m ush which he considered send ing back as it was m uch too salty. Finally he ate it, how ever; the hay fever attack lessened, ul tim ately ceased. Next day he had three m eals, all oversalted, and experienced his m ost com fortable tim e in years in the “ hay fever season.” His analytical m ind quickly grasped the possibility th at the saline substance in his food w as responsible for his relief. About this time. Dr. E. E. Sel- leck, a graduate of Columbia Uni versity, m et the engineer, m ade notes, and when he retu rn ed to his home, began experim ents. To d ay Dr. Selleck declares he has found a certain m eans of relief for hay fever and is supported in his contention by other m edical experts, and a nationally known chem ical m anufacturing concern, the Hollings-Smith Com pany, at O rangeburg, New York, has ta k en over m aking the rem edy, which is called Nakamo Bell. Describing the experim ents. Dr. Selleck said, “ After I w as sure I had found a m eans of q u ic k ly r e l i e v i n g hay fever through the chloride group, I tested it in the most practical way I knew. I held a three day clinic, to which m any hay fever sufferers responded, from ages ranging from 10 to 60 years. Each person was given two tablets with a little w ater. Some relief cam e to all within ten minutes. R eports on these cases during the ensu ing weeks showed practically a com plete cessation of sym ptom s ” —Adv. Constipation!
