Sunday
Lurvlg Albert Matocha passed away
early Saturday morning a t the Vet
erans’ Hospital In Portland after more
than a year f suffering.
Ho was born in Texas November
16, 1897, and lived there until June,
11*18, when ho enlisted for the Wiorld
War, and served his country until No
vember, 1919, when he was honorably
discharged. He then came to Oregon,
where he was united in m arriage to
Eulalia Evans in December, 1926. To
this union were born three children,
Duna, I.udvigjr., and Benjamin. Lud
vig, Jr., passed away while a baby.
Mr. Matocha lived a clean life and
^vas respect'd by all who knew him.
He suffered greatly in his las year,
and earned the peace which God has
rurely granted him.

Federal Government Offers 30 Per
Cent as Gift and 70 Per
Cent as Loan
Another chance is offered Willami
na to build a new water system with
money from the federal government.
30 per cent of which would be a direct
gift and 70 per cent a lean with inter-
i cat a t 3',i per cent and a retirem ent
charge of 2% per cent, m aking a total
to pay of 6 per cent on the amount of
loan. If the city borrowed, as sug
gested, $17,000, this would mean $5,-
100 as a gift from the government
and $11,900 as a loan on which 6 per
cent would have to be paid, which
w' .uld mean $714 a year, w'hich would
pay principal and interest.
Mayor Neely has had several letters
from the Reconstruction Advisory
Board of the state of Oregon concern
ing this matter. It would seem that
i the state board of health turned in the
’ project for the construction of a new
, supply line and a chorination plant a t
a cost they estimated a t $17,000. The
city already owns a chlorination plant,
•so the cost of this could be deducted
from the estimate.
The following letter received by
