Several of the top men from the
O r e g o n T r a i l Council were in
Brookings Wednesday night to meet
with local men in an effort to find
out why scouting isn't progressing
as rapidly in this area.

Marizon, who has been with
the Southern California Gas Co.
for the past ten years, is now
with the Uni-gas firm here.
He was an instructor on gas
and appliances, and their u s e ,
and was on loan to the City of
Los Angeles.

BUI Caldwell, district govern
o o r r o f th e Rotary, visited the
Brookings Club Tuesday. He was
the guest speaker at the regular
luncheon at the Cliff House, and
appeared in the evening to talk
to the board of directors, and
committee chairmen.
Tuesday noon Caldwell issued
a challenge to Rotarians to "Enlist
Extend, and Explore so that we
may better serve".
Caldwell discussed the funde-
m entalsof the proper functioning
of a Rotary Club. He reported
that there were now 9,500 clubs
in 104 countries.

WORK STARTS ON
FOOTBALL FIELD
The Brookings Bruins will be
able to play on a field of their
very own next year, if things con
tinue to develop as they have for
the past week.
An informal ground breaking

Coast Lumber, and Bob Swan be

Dot Martin is contributing his
time as engineer in charge, while
Charlie Echols has helped out on
the survey work.
Tom Dent, Paul Fauerso, Roy
Pollard, and many others have
helped out on the project also.
The Quarterback club, headed
by Warren McNeely is backing
the movement, and are currently
saving money for the future light
ing of the field.
Blaine Gribble has promised
to do some of the work on the
bleachers.
