GRANGE BOOSTER PROGRAM
IS GIVEN GOOD RECEPTION
The annual Booster Night pro­
gram presented by Chetco Grange
♦765 entertained a large crowd
at the Grange Hall last week.
The program was put on by the
Lecturer Ted Robinson assisted
by Virgil Clark.
The community had been e x ­
tended an Invitation to attend the
program, which Is the one time
each year the Grangers have an
open house program for their
00 mm unity.
As the name Implies, the pro­
gram Is to "boost” the Grange
and all it stands for. The speaker
of the evening was State Grange
Deputy Joseph Guttridge of Port­
land, who told of som e of the
many things the Grange has done
to raise the standards of living
In not only the rural areas, but
for the whole country. He also
presented Silver Star pins and
certificates to two Chetco Grange
mem bers, Kathryn Foster and
Tony Olsen in recognition of'their
twenty five years of continuous
membership in the Grange.
Dr. David Brown spoke on the
A s ia n flu and it s symptons.
Superintendent of Schools Gene
Allison spoke on the situation now
facing the local school district,
and the necessity of more clast
rooms for our children. Blossom
Behee presented several of her
pupils in ballet and tap dancing
routines.
In a short skit, Mrs. Julie
We rsch had plenty of trouble from
door to door salesm en when she
was trying to do her housework,
which never got done. This was
topped by the announcement that
her husband was bringing home
some salesm en to dinner.
A "beauty contest” to select
Miss Chdco Grange of 1958 was
held with several glamorous
young contestants taking part.
After the audience had quieted
down enough for the Judges to be
heard, it was announced that Alan
Woodrlff had won the title, and
he was presented a trophy.
The program was closed by
the Master, Joe Zumpfe, who
thanked everyone that had taken
part in the program. After the
program a social hour was en­
joyed, with refreshments served
by the ladles of the Grange.
