    FOOTBALL GAME ON SATURDAY
FINED FOR
SETTING FIRE
C .O . McCiain, of Brookings
was fined $25 in Justice Court
here Tuesday for burning a fire
without firs t obtaining a f i r e
p erm it.
The fire was started just north
of the Ace Drive In T heatre just
a few m iles from Brookings.
He was a rre ste d after a com ­
plaint was filed by Neil L afferty,
State F ire warden in this a re a .
Lafferty explained that S ta te
law prohibits setting any fire s
without a p erm it, and said that
several unathorized fire s have
been sta rted recently, and said
that in view of the extrem e dangei
he is going to crack down on all
violators.
A perm it fire on the Wilbur
O strander place got slightly out
of control this weekend, and an­
other fire had sta rted elsew here,
but no damage was reported.

Bank" had taken c a re of all th e

replacing blood used by are a
people. However, new methods
used by the C rescen t City hospi­
tal have made this plan unwork­
able, and now Brookings and the
other com m unities m ust replace
blood on a two to one b asis.
And—Brookings is about 60
pints behind. The Blood m ob i 1 e
operating out of Eureka ca n ’t
c ro s s the state line, and hence
the trip to Smith River by peo­
ple from this a re a is n ecessary

DEATH REPORTED
R ichard G. Holm passed away
at his home in Brookings Tuesday
after a sudden illn ess.
He was an auto mechanic and
had lived in Brookings only about
six weeks.
His funeral will be held t h i s

His rem ains will be taken to

season the Bruins are gifted with

seven letterw in n ers on the s ta r t­
ing line-up.
However, M acF arlane, and his

to hoe, in trying to field a g o o d
squad, with only one y ea r of foot­
ball background.
