«BOOKINGS— HARBOR P IL O T
A FAMILY OF LOOK-OUTS are shown in front of their ’'home"
at the Long Ridge look-out, about 20 miles up the Chetco River on
the Long Ridge road. They are Mr. and Mrs. Mac Moore, and
son Mike, who is only 9 months old. The Moores are from Port
land, and he is the nephew of Gerry Moore, local shoe repairm an.
He is going to study forestry at Oregon State next year, and took
the lookout post for experience. All of their food is hauled in and
sometimes several days go by without them seeing any other peo
ple way out there. The baby seems to be thriving on roughing it,
however.

FISH BY THE DOZEN are shown above, with these visiting Medford people, who found that fish
ing out of the Chetco was very good last week. These men, above, went out with Art Guthrie in his
S.S. Castle Rock J r . pleasure craft. Guthrie has been very busy the past few weeks, hauling visit
ors out to sea. At right is New Strommen, Harbor bulb grower, who got his share of the salmon.
Although the fishing has slowed down in the last two or three days the bay was literally "alive" with
fish for a while, and there was a minimum of fishing boats reaping the harvest.
