SCHOOL RE-ORGANIZATION
PETITIONSSE NT BY GRANGE
Fifteen petitions bearing near
ly three hundred names were
taken to the county clerks office
the first of the week by Joe
Zumpfe, Master of the C hetco
Grange.
The petitions were circulated
by members of the C h e tc o
Grange in co-operation with the
State Grange in an effort for the
people of the state to have a
chance to vote on the controver
sial school re-organization law
passed by the state legislature
the first of this year.
At this time the Grange is not
actively for or against the law,
but as it takes much of the con
trol out of the local level and
places it on the county and state
level, it should be studied and
the people of the state allowed
to vote whether they want it that
way or not. If there are enough
signatures on the petitions to
bring it to a vote, it will be on
the ballot in the 1958 election.
