talk of bringing writer Joe Murphy
out of retirement to write a play
for the local actors. Murphy has

tions of mining claim s were made
in Del Norte county during July,
bringing back the old "goldrush"
days.

$90,000 FOR HARBOR STUDY
FOR CRESCENT CITY
The neighbor city to the south,
Crescent City, received a big
boost last week, when It was
announced b y congressman H.
B. Scudder, a member of the
Public Works Committee, that a
total of $90,000 will be appropri
ated for the study of theCrescen
City harbor.
Congress, of course, would
have to give final approval to the
app rop rlatlon.
The study would place special
emphasis on a jetty from Whaler
Island towards the Jetty now un
der construction.

BUILDING PERMITS NEEDED
IN CITY OF BROOKINGS
Residents of the City of Brook
ings are reminded by Mayor Fell
Campbell that any type of building
in the city requires a building
permit.
Mayor Campbell reports that
any building or construction which
costs more than $20 are required
to have a perm it. This refers to
remodeling Jobs too. This ordin
ance was passed so that the city
could have some control over the
type and manner of building with
in the corporate lim its of the city.
Campbell said too, that there

lim its the, heights and sizes of
fences, add reports that there
may be violations in the city. For
