Micro Midget Auto raring h««
become the world's fastest grow­
ing racing sport, with amateur
and professional race d rivers

country.
C rescent City was one of the
first to boast of Micro Midgets
and a full racing program . This
year the races were taken to
the Chetco Rodeo Grounds In
Brookings where they have been
held for the past several Sundays
Next years plans call for the
construction of a new tract that
will accomodate night racing In
C rescent City.
Many new cars are being built
with Ed Dungey finishing his In
tim e for last Sunday's race. He
com pleted his car In exactly 7
days, using C rosley parts and a
chain saw motor. Anyone e lse
Interested In building cars pan
obtain specifications through the
Del Norte Micro Midget Club
Box 864 , C rescent City.
Some of the highlights of last
Sunday's race here were: Trophy
Dash, firstp lace; Marlon Tolman,
First heat-Herb Heberleln. S ec­
ond heat—C .L . Mendenhall, of
Brookings. Third heat—Tolman.
S em l-m aln —Marvin Baker, Keith
Purge son; Second, Ed Dungey.
Main E vent--F irst p lace—He­
berleln, Tolman, Don Toombs
Baker, Stuart Eldred, Dungey,
and Mendenhall.
The next Micro Auto races
will b«* held August 3, Saturday
evening at 5 p .m . in Brookings.
TEACHING STAFF
Supt. of Schools Gene Allison
reports that the teaching staff
for the d istrict is now complete
with the single exception of the
high school ch im istry and phy­
sic s teacher.
Allison said that he has a can­
didate* In mind for that position.

years, as the boating enthusiasts get more and more plentiful. Snug Harbor, Just up the river a short distance above the b r i d g e
is In a sheltered Inlet. Work is being done on Snug Harbor to accomadate more tourists. It Is expected that with the work b e i n g
done on the jetties more and more people will be making this their vacation stop.
