Get Lily Bulbs
Oregon legislators w ere prob
ably busy this w eek planting
Croft lily bulbs. This cam e about
in this way
Vern Ayres, m anager of the
Oregon Coast Association, called
Brookings-Harbor
C ham ber
of
Com merce president Paul Fauerso
and told him that about a hun
dred Oregon legislators w ere com
ing to Tillamook to visit, and a t
tend the Oregon Coast Associa
tion convention being held there.
He said th at Tillamook was
presenting the delegation w ith
cheese packages, and th at A storia
was furnishing smoked tu n a pack
ages. He suggested that Brookings
furnish lily bulbs.
Fauerso started the wheels
grinding. He called Joe Zumpfe,
who ju st happened to have some
lily bulbs on hand th at he was
w illing to contribute to the cause.
Then the Brookings-Harbor P i
lot found some printed cards,
telling about Croft lilies, which
would be stam ped to th e bags
holding the bulbs. He got the
cello bags from Don V aughan, at
the Hi Way M arket.
Then Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Fau.
erso and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hagen
packed the bulbs, and gave them
to M errill Bullock, who took them
to Tillamook.
According to A yres—th e legis
lators w ere delighted w ith th eir
gift.
