4-5, are the dates set for the
third annual Brookings Rodeo.
Next w.'ek, beginning Monday
has been designated by Mayor
Roy Brfcim as “ Western Week’’
in Brooltb s and every one is ex­
pected to dress accordingly.
The rodeo this year is to be
the largest ever held in Brook­
ings and points won by those com­
peting will count in the world
championship contest.
Saturday. August 4 has been
se aside as kids day with special
prizes in effect. A western dance
at the Grange Ilall has been set
for Saturdaj night.

On August 15, Com m ander of
Dist. 7, Dan F. Krotz. Oregon
VFW , of Shady Cove and a party
of members from there will be
visiting the local post on an in­
spection. It is probable they will
be accompanied by some of the
members of the Ladies Auxiliary.

IN RHYTHM WITH A CYCLONE, the saddle bronc rider rolls with the pitching of the horse
and spurs over the break of the shoulders. If he touches any part of the saddle, the rein, the horse
with his free hand he*s goose-egged, and he can’t wrap the rein around his hand or change
hands. He must stay aboard eigh tor ten seconds (depending on local rulesiand spur the bronc from
shoulder to flank to earn the high score it takes to win.

Stafford, who’ll tie 87 years old
this coming Sunday, is doing just
fine, according to Mrs. Stafford.
Although he isn’t up and about
he keeps tabs on what's going on
' around their home in Harbor.

with his heels to bring the critter which outweights him 3 to 1,
to a sudden stop. Then, working a gainst a stop watch, he’ll twist
him down till all four feet are free, (minting in tlu* same direction.
