TIMBER CARNIVAL FIGURES
Here are some of the results of
the recent Timber Carnival held
at Albany. They were witnessed
by a crowd estimated at over
20.000.
Chuck Harris of Kelso, Wash­
ington stayed on a log in the roll­
ing contest, 2 hours and 45 min­
utes before he spilled Wickheim
of Sooke, B. C. Harold Johnson of
Castle Rock climbed a 100 foot
spar and sliced off the top in 1
min., 42.7 sec. but didn’t heat
Stan Lyons who, in a previous
year, made it in 1.36.
Jimmy Dunlap of Powers, rac­
ed up a 100 ft. and down again in
38.1 sec., but the record is still
held by Malcolm Harper, Ches­
hire who made it in 35.3 sec in
1955. Bucking a 3 foot fir log
in 2.22,4, Paul Searls of Toutle,
Washington didn’t beat his own i
record of 1.21 made in 1952. The
world’s chopping event was won
by David Geer of Jewett City
Conn.
HELLO WORLD
A daughter, Linda Pat, was
born to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Parke
Jr., July 1. Linda is the first
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Gary* Morris, Brookings.

tend to purchase and receive from
Robert E. Sweet, of Oak and
Chetco Sts in Brookings, Oregon,
all of his right, title and interest
in and to all the stock in trade
of the Sweets Flying A Service
Station, located at Oak and Chet­
co Sts. in Brookings, Oregon.
That the aforesaid stock in
trade consists of generally, gaso­
line, oil, grease, tires, batteries,
auto accessories and supplies.
Said sale will be made on the
23rd day of July 1956, at the hour
of 4 p.m. of said day, at those
premises known as P. D. Les-
meister Agency located at Brook­
ings, Oregon.
