AFTER ACCIDENT

following an accident W ednesday
evening when he fell asleep and
w recked his ca r ju st below the

H arbor. H e had driven from
K lam ath Falls w here he atten d s
Oregon Technical In stitu te to
spend Thanksgiving at home, but
spent it in the hospital instead,
m aking the trip th ere in the
Brookings Ambulance.
He is suffering from a cracked
vertebrae, concussion, and m u lt­
iple cuts and bruises. It is not
known a t this tim e how long he
will have to stay in the hospital.

visit. He took on? of his sons w ith

will be in charge of the office
while he is gone.

California, piled into th e Brook­
ings Police C ar last W ednesday
■■vening, w hile the Police c a r was
parked at an accident scene, w ith
th e red flasher going, in Harbor.
Lander, driving a '41 Chevrolet,
w as arrested on a drunken driv­
ing charge following the accident,
He pleaded guilty in Ju stice of
Peace Roy B row n’s court to driv­
ing under th ? influence of intoxi­
cating liquor, to driving w ithout
an o p e ra to r’s license. L ander was,
also driving w ithout insurance.
He paid a $200 fine, levied by-
Brown. and agreed to pay all tb -
dam ages to the Police car, which
am ounted to over $700.
Joe Schum aker. Brookings Pol­
ice Officer, had stopped a t th ? ac­
cident of Raymond Reekm an. to
help him into the am bulance. Both
th e L ander and R e ’km an cars
w ere com plete wrecks.

drow ned in Sm ith River, last S u n ­
day, and his body has not been
recovered up lo the tim e we go to
press.
