W HAT ABOUT G A M B LIN G ?
'There has been a lot of discussion about
gambling m Brookings and in Curry County in the
past two weeks, ever since the Grand [ury was called
in to investigate it. I hey did Rive the county a Rood
. . 1 f *
. . . .
rcjxtrt, stating that it was tree rrom organized vice in
ever) way, and that p.o more gambling exists here
than jo any other county.
G11 the other hand, they did indict one man
for ojxrrating gambling tables, and another man was nj
for trial for pulling a gun in an aftermath of a gam
bling incident.
So the facts seem to l>c this. W e I uvq gambling
in Brookings h> some extent, but it isn’t the organized
type, and doesn’t seem to be out of hue compared with
other counties.
