Is a public lib rary n ecessary for Br»M)kings-Harbor and so u th ern C u rry C o u n ty ? Ask y o u rse lf do I ev e r use a lib ra ry ? Do y o u r children need a lib ra ry ? Does a lib rary c o n stitu te an y th in g to th e public w e lfa re ? On th e an sw e rs to those questions rest th e ex istan ce of a lib rary in B rookings, because if we a re to co n tin u e to have a public lib ra ry concerted action by everyone m ust be fo rth co m in g im m ediately. T he building m ust be in a c tu a l use as a lib ra ry by F e b ru a ry 1955, o r th e pending conditional deed to th e C ity of B rookings will be cancelled by the U. S. G overnm ent. A g roup of y o u r neighbors has a beau tifu l lib ra ry building well un d erw ay upon a very d esira b le piece of p ro p erty one block east of th e C ath o lic C hurch. A h e a rty push by everyone now could save w hat they have accom plished and secure for S o u th e rn C u rry C ounty w hat every a rea needs to fulfill a good com m unity life. T he lib rary boaiil feels its accom plishm ent w a rra n ts calling upon th e citizen ry to fig u re out w hat each can do, look up a board m em ber, and “ lay it on the line” N O W . All av a ila b le cash has been sp en t for m a te ria ls so m o re m oney is needed, also for w a te r and sew er service Money g ifts a re d ed u ctib le from incom e tax re tu rn s and th e boat'd tre a s u re r will issue re ceip ts for sam e. Labor, skilled o r unskilled, m en and wom en, children for picking up tra s h ; fill m a te ria l, and a couple of h o u rs w ork w ith a bulldozer; sp ra y painting, o u tsid e a re all needed. Few fam ilies, the board feels, ca n 't afford an an n u al association m em bership at $2.50.
