A survey just completed at 16
points of entry estim ates out-of-
sta te visitors spent substantially
the sam e am ount of money this
year as last $125,000,000. This
figure takes into consideration
all types of out-of-state travelers,
including those who camped, stay
ed at motels, hotels or resorts.
Though visitors spent about 42
cents per car more per day and
stayed two tenths of a day longer,
there were not as many people
'¡sitin g the state nor as many
cars. Figures showed 16,000 less
cars and one per cent less pas
sengers. Actually Oregon visitors
spent $16.39 per car per day in
1953 and $16.81 in 1954; stayed
0.58 days in 1953 and 6.8 days' in
1954 and dorve 616 miles in 1953,
644 miles in 1954. N early a m il
lion visitor cars crossed Oregon
borders in 1954.

ing in national magazines and
newspapers. Over 125,000 inquir
ies have been received to date as
a result of this y e a r’s campaign.
A special fall campaign aimed at
the nearby m arkets of California.
W ashington and Utah has sus
tained the num ber of visitors and
many hundreds have w ritten to
ask about autum n vacation fac
ilities.
