ed a t F erg u s Falls, things began
to happen in th e autom obile busi­
ness in th a t com m unity. It had
been th e custom , w hen w in te r
blizzards settled in, for autom obile
salesm an to sit around th e p o t­
bellied stove and w a it for w in te r
to b reak up before s ta rtin g the
sp rin g sales cam paign.
G am ble and S kogm o could not
afford th e lu x u ry of w in ter idle­
ness so th ey fought th e d rifts and
bclow -zero w eath er, sold c a rs all
w in ter an d com e F e b ru a ry and
M arch, delivered new cars by th e
dozens to fa rm ers who had bought
them in snow -tim e.
Before long the young p a rtn e rs
held th e Dodge and F ord fr a n ­
chise. opened o th e r autom obile
agencies and w ere piling up a u to
m obile sales exceeding a m illion
do llars a y ear.
