Lehi then settled down and pitched 4 scoreless innings. The Studs however m anaged two more unearned runs in the 6th on 2 singles and two additional fielding miscues. Brookings was able to dent the p late only in the 2nd when Lloyd H a rt walked Lehi and B arrett and Cliff Girod scored both with a double. Although the league season ended Sunday, the s ta rt of P la y ­ offs have been postponed until the week-end of the 21st, pend­ ing the outcome of two rained* out games between M edford and Coquille. The split coupled w ith the G rants Pass Cavem en’s double defeat at Drain placed Brookings in a tie for 3rd place and a defi­ nite spot in the league’s playoff series to sta rt August 21st. The first game was a "nip and tu ck ” affa ir and sustained fan interest until the last Cheney Stud was retired in the top of the 9th. M anager and shortstop Bob Selsor m ade his first mound s ta rt of the season for the Beavers and although somewhat wild, pitched a good game, allowing only 5 hits . The S tuds scored in the first inning as Selsor forced in a run on a walk, a single and two b a t­ te rs bit by pitched balls.
