SCOUT BUILDING
NEWS GIVEN
There is about 10 thousand feet
< f lumber dumped on the Scout
Building Property. Fox Brothers
truck hauled 'it. According to
p’ans, this will be enough mater-
W to frame the proposed 40 by
foot building, ready for the
roofing. Plywood is also contracted
for and is in storage, available
whenever needed.
According to the deal with
Brookings Plywood, to trade logs
for plywood, we need a consid
erable amount of logs yet to fin
ish our part of the deal. So, any
logger or individual who has any
kind of logs that they will do
nate to the Scouts, contact any
one of the committee or take them
direct to the plywood pond and
have the scaler mark ticket
Scouts”. Bring your copy to the
chairman of the committee.
The building committee is
still short-handed, so if anyone
wants to help on this deal, con
tact Mike Page or one of the
ccmmitteemen. It don’t seem to do
any good to have a meeting.
The date has not been set for
construction to be started, yet.
There are trusses to be built,
forms made for the piers to hold
the trusses up, gravel to spread
out for the concrete floor and
plenty of odd jobs before being
ready for actual framing.
Any one or any group who
wishes to work, go to Freeman’s
Market, and ask for Larry. Larry
will take your name and register
you for amount of work and time
that you will do. If you or any
group w’ant to do something
FIGHT NOW see Blain Gribble,
building Chairman or Mike Page.
We hope that this system works,
by having a list of persons who
want to work, we will know who
to call on to get enough of a
crew together to make a good
showing when we get set to go.
In the meantime there is plenty
of short jobs to be done. So step
forward, Parents, Scouters, Spon
sors, Organizations or anybody
that wants to see a meeting place
for ALL Scouts, Boy and Girl
go up in Brookings. Building site
is located on the highway, near
Azalea Park.
of another deal figured out This
Committee, or what’s left of it,
means to get this project finished,
sooner or later. Anyone having
any ideas or any sort of plan to
hurry the deal up are very wel- '
come to step up and state their
idea. We can’t get TOO much
help. This building will benefit
all in the Brookings-Harbor area.
Later on we probably will have
to put on some sort of financial
drive for funds. But for the time
being we are setting pretty good
according to money matters. Most
import on that angle is L O G S.
That is our medium of exchange
with the Plywood Company, for
any kind of material that they
sell.
