A locally produced product is
recording increasing sales as it
becomes better known to garden
ers.
The product is SeaGro, a fert -
lizer manufactured from seaweed.
The fertilizer is manufactured
locally by Allen B. Wallace of
Harbor.
SeaGro went on sale this week
it Brookings Market, and is dis
tributed by the Charles H. Lilly
Seed Co.
According to the manufacturer,
seaweed provides one of the great
supplies of minerals from the sea.
As such, it is an extremely valu
able aid, both to growth and soil
conditioning.

Fire Does Slight
Damage to Motel
Fire last Thursday did some
damage to a duplex unit in th
Chambers Motel, I larlwr. ----------
The fire was started, according
c the owners, when Lester
Brown, tenant of the unit, at
tempted to refuel a kerosene
stove while it was lit. The kero
sene exploded, and ignited the
vails and ceiling of the unit.
The fire was put out almost im
mediately, however, by Mr. Cham-
'cis. who happened to be nearby
at the time.
Damage was confined to the
surface of th° kitchen walls and
ceilings, but Mr. Chambers sa d
‘he fire could have been disastrous

A crowd of eighty saw the first
television in Brookings Saturday
evening when the White Appli
ance Co. held a television preview

Everyone reported excellent re
ception, particularly considering
the fact that the station is only
on one-fifth power at the present

SISTERS MEET
Mrs. Henry LaBarge left Sun
day for Spokane, where she will
visit her sister. While there, the
two sisters will be joined by a
third one from St. Louis.
Mr. LaBarge just returned from
Portland, where he was being
checked on at the Veteran’s hos
pital.
