The Daily Vacation Bible
school, held each morning at the
Smith River church is progressing
nicely, with a good attendance of
children present for the classes.
The program schedule each morn­
ing is singing, Bible stories,
games, land crafts, drawing and

Friday evening, when the children
will have on display the work they
have done during the two weeks
session. All parents and friends
are invited to attend this evening
session.
LEGIONNAIRES WORK
About 15 American Legion boys
of Post 712 turned out last Sun-
day to lay new asphalt shingles
on the Community Hall. The
building has been in need of a new
roof. The ladies of the Auxiliary
served a pot luck dinner in the
hall at noon for the working men.
Anyone who would like to help
with this community project is
welcome to come.
GOLD BEACH VISITORS
Recent visitors at Smith River
were Mrs. Dolly Jean Adams, and
her sister, Mrs. June Moore, both
of Gold Beach, who called on
their grandmother, Mrs. Eva Hill,
They also attended the Lily Pa-
rade at Brookings. The sisters are
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Zahni
Crockett of Pistol River.
and Mrs. Marietta Smith of Bell,
who is a sister of Mrs. Depew.
The visitors were guests at the
church service on Sunday.
DAUGHTER VISITS MOORES
Mr. and Mrs. J. \V. Moore are
enjoying a visit from their
daughter and her children of
Redding, Calif., who arrived for
their vacation.
CHILDREN LEARN TO SWIM
About 65 children from Smith
River area signed up for the Red
Ci oss swimming lessons held on
Smith river near Hiouchi bridge.
Joe Reichlin, driver of the Cres-
cent Elk school bus, picks up all
children of school age who attend
the classes each day.
MRS. GOODLIN SIGHT-SEEING
Mrs. Alf Goodlin, accompanied
by her granddaughter Nadine
Lehmkul and Amelia Shelton
went to Gold Beach Wednesday
for several days vacation and
sight seeing.

Live Stock Tour
The annual South Coast 4-H
Live Stock tour that began Thurs­
day morning was completed at
Floras Lake Friday. A tour was
made of Langlois Cheese, cattle
were judged at Cope’s Dairy,
sheep at Henry Adolphson’s ranch
(Seaview Ranch).
Judging was done by Harry
Lindgren, extension live stock
specialist at O.S.C. and George
Jenkins. Coos County extension
agent.
The State Fair teams of three
each will be made up from those
members that are highest in
