The score was 9 to 6 in favor of Roseburg as Carlyle Staab led off the last of the ninth with a double, his fourth hit in five trips to the plate. Mickey Coen who had shut out Medford’s Cheney Studs two weeks previous then hit Frank Burdell with a ¡»itched ball to set the stage for Dick Price’s dramatic home run to right to tie the score. Hal Zurcher replaced Coen on the mound and immediately walked Ron Monel Io, who went to sec ond on Jim B arrett’s sacrifice bunt. Catcher Bob Chapman then got the game winning hit with a double down the left field line to score Monello. The Beavers made the same number of hits in the Saturday game but Roseburg scored 15 runs in that fray mainly due to 13 bases on balls and six Beaver errors. Carlyle Staab was the leading Beaver hitter for the series, lin ing out six hits in 10 trips, in cluding two doubles and two tri ples. Second baseman Dick Price had four for nine, including two home runs and seven runs batted in.
