stores and business houses, the
establishments located in Brook­
ings are making every effort to
supply complete stocks of mer­
chandise to their buyers.
If the merchandise n< eded is
not in stock it can always be ob­
tained by one or another of the
local stores for you.

TII/XNKSGIYING DAY was set apart by the Pilgrims as one of gratitude for
blessings received from God. I his little band of exiles, three hundred and thirty
two years ago, crossed the stormy Atlantic and landed in a then wilderness on the
New England coast.
They were grateful to God for the safety of the voyage, for his miraculous care
of them during a severe winter; also for the kindness of the native Indian people,
and finally for the abundant harvest of the summer, wrick was adequate for their
future needs.
It had been a desperate venture for this little band, trusting only in God to
preserve them. They now had the satisfaction of knowing that they were firmly
established in their new home.
They, of course, did not foresee that God had a purpose in thus caring for
and protecting trem. It was impossible for them to look into future events and
know that they and a few other similar little bands of exiles scattered along the At­
lantic coast were the nucleus of the future American nation; one destined to rise
to sublime h. ghts in strength, educational development and progress never before
obtained in human history.
