Fine Display at P I
The Pacific International Live­
stock Show will open in Portland
starting October 4th to 11th. Curry
County booth will be designed and
supervised by Charles and Martha
Grayshel. The focal point of the
booth will be a map of Curry
County superimposed on a large map
of the State of Oregon. One side of
/his map will list the cities in Curry
County and the other side list the
Natural Resources. Along one wall
the theme will be a Pacific Ocean
beach with displays of driftwood,
etc and the other wall will feature
our native Myrtle with August
Johnson turning out rough myrtle-
wood on a wood lathe, under a
bower of fresh myrtle branches.
The plywood for the map was
donated by the Brookings Plywood
Corp.; the wood lathe is being
furnished by the Walker-Turner
Co. On the display panel to be in­
stalled at the base of this map will
be featured products of Curry
County; cheese from Langlois, wool,
minerals, plywood, fir. alder, tan-
oak. redwood, Port Orford cedar,
mvrtlewood as well as literature
from the entire county. Tins show
attracts people from the entire
Western half of the United States
and is a big attraction at Portland
each year. The Royal Canadian
Mounties drill team, the famous six-
horse draft harness team, gaited
horses as well as top-flight rodeo
stars who will commute by air from
t he show now going on in Madison
