C O IP L E MARRIED IN
GRANTS PASS
In a simple but impressive cere
mony in the Methodist Church at
Grants Pass on August twenty sixth,
Miss Marilyn Hannan, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George Hannan of
Harbor became the bride of William
Shipley, son of George Shipley of
Brookings. The Reverand Joseph
Knox officiated at the ceremony
with the attendants being Miss
Joanne Clendenin
and Robert
Shipley.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Shipley are
well known members of the younger
group. Mr. Shipley was a member
of the 1952 graduating class of
Brookings High School and is now
employed at the Texaco Service
Station at Brookings. Mrs. Shipley
is continuing her studies at the
high school. They are making their
home on the Larry Moore place a
couple of miles up the south bank
road of the Chetco.
This Saturday, October 4th, is the
la’ t day to register for the general
election in November. Residents of
this vicinity who live north of the
Chetco river register at Moore’s
Variety Store in Brookings, and
those living south of the river at
the Harbor Post Office.
Mr and Mrs. Steve Cate are the
parents of an eight pound ten ounce
daughter bom at the Seaside hos
pital on September 26th. They
have named the little newcomer,
Jeri Lynn.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bush left the
latter part of the week to return to
their Parker, Arizona home for the
winter. Before leaving, they sold
most of their property on the
Chetco River above Harbor, retain
ing for their own use a small cabin,
as they plan to have Harbor for
their summer time home. Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Hare are the new own
ers of the Bush property, and are
very enthused over it.

from serious injury Sunday when
the door of their fathers pickup
flew open on a curve near the Win-

the moving car. Merle says that
when he first realized that someth
ing was wrong the girls were in the
air falling from the pickup which
was going about thirty five miles
an hour at the time. The older girl
Sharon, was most seriously injured
having several deep cuts around
her head and one eye swollen shut,
and like her younger sister Merlene.
