The hirst National Bank of Portland, as else
where reported in the Pilot, has opened a branch in
Gold Beath. 1 his advent of a great hank into Curry
County speaks well for future business in South
western Oregon. W hen a hank of this magnitude
invests a large sum of its money in Curry County
we may rest assured that the business possibilities of
this area justifies its investment.
1 he wonderful progress of the Oregon State
Bank of Brookngs, its fine service to this community
and its deposits which run into the mllions is added
proof that the economy of this area is as safe and
sound as any area on the Pacific Coast. In fact we
may be living in one of the best business a re ^ of the
United States.
W e have too long been a sort of a forgotten
land. Industry has by-passed us and established it
self elsewhere. I his has all been changed by the hard
work and untiring efforts of men who, with vision,
h a \i come among us and uncovered the possibilities
and oppirtunities that exist here.
As yet our economic surface has hardly been
scratched. O ur future holds great promise. B r o k
ings and Curry County are on the upswing and with
the linjxtus that is now behind us we have every
reason to believe that this area shall soon become one
of great industrial development.
We have those
things that business needs to succeed and business is
discovering what we possess.
I,lc
congratulates the First National
Bank of Portland in its coming to this area. We
wish it every success in its venture. W hen this new
bank o|xns its doors in Gold Beach it shall lx- one
