w ithout a pitcher. Infielder Keith
Johnson took the mound and got
by the fifth but walked three con
secutive b atters and allowed one
hit in the sixth before Je rry M a
son was called in from the o u t
field. Not w arm ed up, Mason was
also wild and Roseburg had nine
big runs before the inning was
over.
Mickey Coen, W illam ette Uni
versity pitcher, had the Beavers
on his hip, allowing only five hits
and giving up a single talley in
the fourth and two belated runs
in the ninth.
The Sunday afternoon session
was a much closer tussle, although
very loosely played game w ith
Beavers holding a 3-2 edge to
the sixth. A fter a lone run in the
first inning, the Beavers drove
s ta r te r Don Siegmund from .the
mound with two runs in the fourth
but could do nothing to crafty
