proved by congress for the new fiscal year beginning July 1, 1952, in­
clude $27,470,000 for the southw est area, and $2,657,000 for area fa­
cilities serving key load centers, last week announced W. E. Trom-
m ershausen, area m anager.
M ajor construction activities will center on the tw’o 230,000-volt
transm ission lines from McNary dam to the P ortland and southern
Oregon load centers, together with secondary facilities to serve key
area load centers, said Trom m ershausen. O ther transm ission facili­
ties will link the D etroit dam with the Columbia river grid when
initial generation is installed in the fall of 1953 at Detroit.
