Planned His Visit
1
Such was m y re-action after reading an article re-
cen tly in Life which indicated that the
flying saucers of the past few’ years may
be in reality visitors from another planet.
Now it isn’t the fact that there may
be living creatures within those aerial
vehicles that causes me to I k * alarmed.
Neither am I particularly turious as to
why they come so near and still don’t
stop and “ set awhile.” No, what wor
ries me is that Congress is likely to do
if its members ever read that article.
As all of us are well aware, taxes have skyrocketed
since the close of World W ar 2, and no one has been
inclined to complain much because Congress explained
that we were being armed against a possible enemy in
vasion. As the taxes hurdled even higher, we were in
formed that Congress needed the money to arm and
/eed most of the rest of the world so that these people
would be on our side, come hositilities.
And now in the year of 1953
^le j°b practically
completed and congress running out of countries to feed
and arm, what happens? Why, nothing that Life, to
tally unaware of the part it was playing in our economic
destinies, reveals that there is strong possibility th.it
Hying sauces are piloted by hot rods of another planet.
So off will go our taxes into the bright blue younder
as Congress will undertake to move us underground
to escape a potential Planet X and at the same time
will take on the task of feeding and arming Venus,
Saturn and Mars to keep them on our side.
My only hope is that the members of the Congress
^are so busy at the present time investigating each other
that they won’t find the necessary time to read Lijc.
