Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sergeant
returned to Brookings late last
week. Mr. Sergeant has attended
a meeting of the Oregon Educa­
tion Association and Mrs. S er­
geant had been caring for her
mother, Mrs. Art Dresselhaus, fol­
lowing a recent operation, at Laf­
ayette, Oregon.
Mr. and Mrs. George Asdel,
one-time residents of Port O r­
ford, but now of Bakersfield, Cali­
fornia, were brief visitors in this
area Sunday en route to Port
Orford to look a fte r their blue­
berry interests there. Mr. Asdel,
during the w ar with an airplane
concern, was at the beginning of
the Korean conflict, asked to re­
turn. He is production engineer
rt Bakersfield, but longs to re ­
turn to this section.

tim ber standing or down located
on an area designated as Eagle
Creek Burn Unit No. 2, em brac­
ing approxim ately 200 acres w ith­
in Sections 6 and 7, T. 39 S., R.
12 W. W. M., and lying on N orth­
ern P rairie C r e e k within the
Chetco River watershed. Siskiyou
National Forest, Oregon, estim at­
ed to be 1.500,000 lioard feet, more
or less, of dead Douglas-fir and
other species of dead sawtim ber.
All standing dead tim ber within
the sale boundaries will lx* con­
sidered as m arked for cutting
and the sale contract will require
that all such dead tim ber be fell­
ed No bids of less than $1,125.00
for the total volume of tim ber
as estim ated above will lx» con­
sidered. In addition to the price
bid for stum page a co-operative
deposit of $1,125.00 to cover the
| cost of tree planting, seed sow’-
mg, and tim ber stand improve-
: ment w’ork on the area cut over

accompany each bid to be applied '
