A series of educational meet-!
ings to let the farmers of Curry I
county know something about the I
functioning and work of a soil <
conservation district have been
arranged for next Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday, according
to Clifford Jenkins, county agent.
Farmers interested in erosion
control, drainage, improvement of
irrigation systems, channel align
ment and other phases of land and
water conservation will find the
meetings of interest.
Howard Cushman, executive
secretary, State Soil Conserva
tion committe of Oregon, and
Lester Davenport, soil conserva
tionist from the S.C.S. office in
Grants Pass will attend these
meetings. Farmers will be told of
the work in other districts and
how they operate, how much it
will cost the farmers to set up
and conduct the district and about
the work on individual farms.
If after the meetings farmers
of Curry county wish to proceed
with the organization of such a
district steps wil lbc taken to or
ganize. The meetings are set:
Oct. 25 at Chetco Grange at 1:30
p. m.; Oct. 25 at County exten
sion office, Gold Beach at the
same hour and Oct. 26, at Sixes
Grange hall at 1:30 p. m.
