After being kicked around m
the three previous games, the
Brookings Pelicans, Sunday, rose
up in full might to swat down
the Reedsport nine,
to 0 in
a slug-fest which marked the
Pelicans coming out oi their bat
ting slump of the last few games.
Behind the three-hit pitching of
Eon Clausen and Bob Astin, the
visitors were rudely handled.
The slaughter started in the
first inning which s^w the visitors
load the bases and then fail tn
score. Kimura singled, came in
w hen McLean hit for four bases:
Matson walked and Astin, Selsor
and Nierman each singled to
drive in three more runs.
Maison doubled in the second
and was sent home by Astin’s
tour-ply smash, to add a brace
ot runs to what would turn out
to be another high ^coring game
for the Pelicans. Peterson hit
for two bases in the third, and
came in on Clausens single.
In the fourth, the Pelicans Itad
their first blank inning, but Po
lando reached first on an error
in the filth, went to second on

Clausen’s single. In the sixth
Matson reached second on the
third baseman's error, advanced
on an infield out and scored on
Selsor’s long fly to right.

up the scoring for the run-hun
gry Pelicans.
Reedsport, vanquishers of
Roseburg team the Sunday be-
fore, was able to get but
infield hit off Clausen^ and but
one line single off Astin in the
ninth, which came nearest
sembling a hit. Reedsport got
slow infield hit in the eighth.
