'Robinson Carusoes' Make Story For
Barbershoppers National Magazine
“The Harmonizer,” national publication of Society for the Pres­
ervation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America,
devoted a whole page with plenty of pictures in a recent issue, re­
lating the experiences and “fun” enjoyed at the Brookings October
Parade of Quartets.. One scene of special interest was that of
cars being towed by Fox Brothers through high water at Tryon
corner, south of Smith River.
If anything else remained which didn’t go wrong, no one was
able to detect it, unless an atom bomb blast or earthquake could
be counted among the missing. While at the time, none could see
any fun to the situation, now, with plenty of thought, the whole
affair makes a story—quite a story.
All the quartets present agreed that one could go fishing time
after time without remembering any particular time, say, unless
he or his wife fell in the water—and this case everyone fell in
the water, not literally, either. The Harmonizer points out what
singing means to men when neither hell nor high water ....
