Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Miller and
daughter, Marian, were shopping
at Coos Bay last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs.s Pete Bullington
are parents of a son, born at the
oGld Beach hospital, Feb. 23.
Dave Thompson, who has been
visiting at Portland, is back home
again.
iMr. and Mrs. Glen Garboden
drove to Eugene early last week,
where Mrs. Garboden underwent
surgery at the Sacred Heart hos­
pital.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Elliott of
Gold Beach were dinner guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Dillon Miller
last Friday evening.
D. W. Miller was in Coquille
on business last Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pollock are
now residing in the Barrington
Mill Village.
Mrs. Meta Miller, a long-time
resident of Ophir, passed away
at the Gold Beach hospital, Feb.
27, where she had been a pa­
tient since September. Survivors
are six daughters, Mrs. Iris Sny­
der of Ophir; Mrs. Meri Oliver
of Smith River, Calif.; Mrs. Dor­
othy Young of God Beach; Mrs.
Beulah Carpenter of Carpenter-
ville; Mrs. Loris Borden and Mrs.
Jessie Large both of Florence,
Oregon, and one son, Mike Millar
of Ophir. Funeral services were
held Thursday at the Gold Beach
Community Cchurch with inter­
ment at the Port Orford ceme­
tery.

Several local people found out
how driving in snow’ was last
Saturday evening on their way
home from the north. Mrs. Madge
Moore and Mrs. Mary McMann
who had attended Connie’s r ash-
ion show at Gold Beach, had the
most trouble and had to wait
until the snow' plow came to
clear the road, a wait on the side
of the road for about an hour.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gustafson,
accompanied by Mrs. Henry Wei­
gel and Mrs. Curt Waldien, and
Mrs. Kathryn Reekman, accom­
panied by Mrs. Fred Gardner,
all of who had attended Pomona
Grange at Ophir, had less trou­
ble, but Mr. Gustafson’s car be­
gan siitiing toward the bank once
and was held on the road by
several men, pushing at the side.
Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Duff have
moved to Langlois to make their
home alter living at Harbor for
the past two years. Mr. Duff is
opening a barbershop of his own
at Langolis. He was employed by
Lloyd Stefani while here. Mrs.
Duff is a well-known Oregon ar­
tist. and they will be missed by
their friends in the community.
