IT SEEMS TO ME:
a following why can’t that old
method be employed by this na
tion? Russia disposes of her po
litical enemies the quiet way—
United States gives hers many
more chances to operate.
People who come to this na
tion from others have difficulty
adjusting themselves to the free
dom of this nation—they say we
are too free. Perhaps they have
the answer. Those in this na
tion who have much to say in
opposition to its ways, should be
sent to the country which they
believe to be the model of per
fection. That might help a lot
soft-pedal this intimal propa
ganda.

By Dewey
Perhaps the United States is
about to come to its senses and
learn that few nations have the
honesty with fellow nations that
we have. Immediately atfer the
first world war every one of
the nations we helped, with ex
ception of Finland, failed to pay
war loans they simply laughed
at us, and made no effort.
Came World War two those
same nations cried to the high
heavens for aid and got it, but
no assurance was made that the
old debts would be paid. This na
tion has been played and will
continue to be played for the
“sucker” it is, until other na
tions can be made see that our
way of life is the peaceful way*
of life.
The United States has won
two wars, and has lost twice
at the peace conferences. What
will the score be in this possi
ble third world war? Russia has
resorted to propaganda to win

Panic is evident among home
folks that hoarding will again
be practiced. Stampeded buyers
already have caused many com
modity prices to rise to new high
levels, and the markets have been
dumped into turmoil. Dimmick
Bros, told the Pilot that many
wholesalers are becoming pan
icky too, which doesn’t help.
Partial reason for this may be
the conversion to war work of
several automobile manufactur
ing plants, thus taking certain
automobiles off the market. This
uncertainly is being reflected in
all lines of commerce. Stocks,
it seems, have felt the impact.
